Crimmins has over 40 YEARS of Legal Experience. Crimmins has served as the First Justice of the Stoughton District Court, where he was responsible for providing the public with equal access to Justice along with stakeholders in the Court System, whether they be Assistant District Attorneys, Members of the Defense Bar, Civil Attorneys, Police Officers, Probation Officers, Domestic Violence Advocates. Administrative Staff, Clerks-Magistrate, Court Officers, Mental Health Counselors, Interpreters and all other individuals serving the Court.


Crimmins has also served as the Chief Executive Officer in two separate communities, having been the Town Manager of the Town of Stoughton and the Town Administrator in the Town of Avon. In both capacities, he has a proven record of service to the public.

Francis T. Crimmins, Jr. has an extensive legal background that makes him especially qualified to serve on the Governor's Council. He graduated from Harvard College in 1977 with an A.B., followed by a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1981.


Crimmins further enhanced his legal education by obtaining an LLM from Western New England School of Law in 2010. His career on the Bench began in 1992 when, at the age of 36, he was appointed by Governor William F. Weld as Associate Justice to the Stoughton District Court. Crimmins went on to serve as First Justice of the Stoughton Division District Court Department of the Massachusetts Trial Court from 2001 to 2010 and held a position as Associate Justice of the Appellate Division of the Department of the Trial Court. In 2022, Crimmins was appointed Chairman of the Massachusetts State Ballot Law Commission by Governor Charlie Baker, he served in that capacity until 2024.


Now retired from the Massachusetts Trial Court, Crimmins has also gained valuable experience in municipal government, serving as the Stoughton Town Manager from 2010 to 2012 and the Avon Town Administrator from 2014 to 2018. Currently, he is the Managing Member of Ab Initio Elder Law Solutions, LLC, concentrating in Estate Planning and Elder Law in Stoughton, MA.


Crimmins is a lifelong resident of Stoughton, MA where he and his wife, Joanne Crimmins raised their four kids Melissa, Thomas, William, and Sean.
